How'd you do with it?

Mid/end of the pack for the class. The owner was about 3 seconds faster then me, I think I did not bad considering it’s a car I’ve never driven.

Good looking Miata. Guess they weren’t strict on the broomstick test?

They arent usually strict about this at autocross, especially since a roll bar isnt required to begin with. But I believe the SCCA rule book at least states that if you have a roll bar, you do indeed have to pass a broomstick test. Either way regardless of rules, the roll bar is just dead weight if you aren’t under it though. I didnt bother installing my roll bar until I had a solution where I would be below it with my helmet on. But in this case, OP is not the owner of the car so that’s a valid excuse for not fitting just right. Not every group follows the entire rule book anyways, even if they base most of their rules on the SCCA.

Oh ok, makes sense. I was genuinely wondering about that. OP probably thought I was being an ass. Something like auto x should be lenient since they typically aren’t getting up to speeds that would incur a roll.
